to CERN - Maps
Here
are some directions on how to get to CERN. You are most likely to
get here by car, train or airplane. The best way to proceed from
there is detailed below.
An
interactive map
of Geneva can help you find your way.
Travelling
by Airplane
Coming from the Geneva International Airport at Cointrin:
Taxi
- (rather expensive, approximately 25CHF). Recommended for heavy
luggage!
Bus
- take the bus number
10 from outside the airport exit to Bouchet (alternatively the
bus number 28 and exit to Blandonnet). From Bouchet (or Blandonnet)
take the bus number 9 marked "9 CERN" to its terminus
at the CERN entrance ("be careful not to confuse it with the
bus number 9-Zimeysa"). Ticket costs 2.60CHF (button B on the
ticket machine). SeeTransports
Publics Genevois web site for full details.
Travelling
by Train
From the Geneva railway station at Cornavin:
Bus
- Take the number
9 bus marked "9 CERN" to its terminus at the CERN
entrance (be careful not to confuse it with the bus number "9-Zimeysa").
Ticket costs 2.60CHF (button B on the ticket machine). See Transports
Publics Genevois web site for full details.
Travelling
by Car
Coming from the Swiss side:
Follow
"Aeroport", "Lyon" or "Meyrin". When
in Meyrin head for "St. Genis" (which is just across the
border in France.) CERN is on the left hand side of the "route
de Meyrin", just before the border crossing.
Coming
from the French side
Follow
"Gex" or "St. Genis". When in St. Genis head
for the border. CERN is on your right hand side immediately after
the border crossing.
Here
you will find a detailed
map of the buildings in the various CERN Sites.
